Province IX Meeting

Host Chapter: Delta Sigma

Glendale, AZ

September 28-29, 2007

Province IX thanks the Delta Sigma brothers for all the hard work they have done to organize this Province meeting.  Special thanks to Delta Sigma's assembly coordinators, Ryan Moore and Stephanie Davis, Delta Sigma's GCD's, Dr. Michael Dietrich and Dr. Criag Johnston, and their committee (Kavita Amin, Sarah Bartek, Maggi Beach, Joann Boswell, Matt Carleton, Cindy Chang, Christine Chu, Jen Dallmann, Matt Gamber, Alexandra George, Chara Gunawardhana, Chad Hudson, Erik Jung, Hazel Lam, Hope Le, Vivian Liao, Caroline Liddicoat, Nicole MacDonald, Judy Mounthongdy, Andrew Newhouse, Anna Nguyenbach, Gopal Patel, Travis Shelton, Nate Spence, Clayton Squire, Victoria Yan, Lily Vu, Claudia Zagarra).

Brothers arrived into Glendale Friday afternoon and were treated to a barbeque social on the Midwestern University housing campus. Friendly games of pool and foosball went on in the clubhouse while brothers enjoyed a light meal. After an enjoyable afternoon of reuniting with brothers from across the province, brothers spent time together around town.

Province IX finally got down to business Saturday morning at the Cholla Hall of Midwestern University.  It was a very successful meeting as much was discussed and new supervisors were introduced.  We were honored to have both in attendance... Thank you, Kali and Latha!

Supervisor Kali Jernigan and Satrap Stephanie Villanueva performed the opening ritual.  Then, Brother Ross Bauman gave the invocation, as Chaplain Eugene Lee could not attend.

Delta Sigma regent, Ryan Moore welcomed all the brothers and thanked everyone for attending.  Letters of communication from Immediate Past Grand Regent Dave Maszkiewicz, Grand Counselor Andy Frasco, Grand Ritualist Melissa O'Neill, Graduate Member at Large Peter Brody, and from our last supervisor Cameron "Radar" Van Dyke were read to the province.

Next, the province officers presented their reports.  And, after a short break, delegates presented their chapter reports

Following the reports, committee chairs gave a brief overview of what they were working on and invited brothers to participate during the working lunch.

Lunch was held outside, under the clear blue sky, in the Ramada, an outdoor picnic area on campus.

Business continued after lunch as committee chairs presented their reports and thanked those who participated.

Before heading their separate ways, brothers gathered outside for a group photo.

Brothers had a few hours to relax before the banquet at Dave and Busters.  So, brothers gathered in the cafeteria for a Texas Hold'em Tournament.  After hours of play, Gamma Upsilon Brother, Michael Sisk, walked away the tournament champion.

Brothers were treated to a dinner banquet at Dave & Buster's a few miles away.

Awards were presented by Historian Elizabeth Sarles.  The Traveler's Award was presented to Gamma Upsilon.  The Lapiz Taquitos Award for the best chapter report was presented to Delta Tau.  The Fellow-hood Brother-ship Award for the most improved attendance was presented to Beta Gamma.  And, the Community Service Award was presented to Delta Phi. Our first province scholarship was presented by Secretary Carly Paoli.  It was awarded to Delta Phi brother Sanaz Farhadian. The banquet ended with Delta Sigma's assembly coordinators, Ryan Moore and Stephanie Davis, receiving Kappa Psi recognition pins. Vice Satrap Robert Mancini was also recognized for his hard work.

After the banquet brothers were treated to a free play-card at Dave & Buster's.  Thank you to sponsors, CVS for a great banquet.  Following the banquet brothers went to the club next door to party the night away.

The meeting was a huge success.  Brothers are now looking forward to reuniting in Stockton, CA for the next province assembly..
