Province IX commends the Gamma Rho brothers on all the hard work they have done to organize this Province meeting.

The weekend started off with a bang, as Brothers reunited in Albuquerque.  Brothers arrived into town Friday evening to check into the La Posada de Albuquerque Hotel.  The hotel was opened in 1939 by a New Mexico native.  The hotel had an essence of the southwest, featuring a Moorish brass and mosaic tiled fountain, hand crafted balcony, massive vigas, and Native American murals.  The rooms were inspired by the Hispanic and Native American cultures.  La Posada de Albuquerque is the only hotel in Albuquerque listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Check in was followed by pre-meeting festivities.  Brothers walked a block east of the hotel to enjoy dinner at Tucanos Brazilian Cafe.  The cafe featured a great salad bar and all you can eat steaks and meats.  Fifteen Brothers representing Gamma Rho, Delta Sigma, Delta Phi, and Arizona Grad squeezed onto three tables joined together.  Brothers Lindsey, Keith, Jessi, Matt, Chris, Robbie, Kristy, Brett, Bonita, Jessica, Linda, Joann, Kristl, Michelle, and Bonnie treated themselves to sixteen varieties of steak.  The highlight of the evening (upon special request on behalf of representatives from each chapter present) was a celebration of Brother Bonita's "21st Birthday."  Restaurant staff members (led by our servers Nadine, Iris, and Don) asked Bonita to stand as they played drums, clapped and chanted a Brazilian melody believed to be "Happy Birthday."

The assembly started on Saturday with registration and a continental breakfast at the hotel.  The opening ritual was performed by Supervisor Craig Johnston and Satrap Brett Rathi.  This was followed by an invocation by Chaplain Jon Nakao, roll call and a formal welcoming of Brothers by Gamma Rho Regent, Rich Weagley, and Assembly Coordinator, Chris Trujillo.  The assembly continued with letters of communication by Grand Regent, Tony Palmieri and Arizona Grad Brother, Michelle Lemanski-Hall.  Next were the officer reports.  Then each chapter presented their Chapter Reports.  Upon hearing about a Brother in need, the province pulled together and donated monetary gifts.  Province attendees also bought Tsunami Relief wristbands to support the tragedy in Asia. The morning ended with a working committee lunch.

The afternoon was filled with old business, committee reports, and elections of our 2005-2006 Province IX Officers.  A huge thank you to the outgoing officers!!! Congratulations to the 2005-2006 Officers: Derrick Egi, Satrap; Linda Ngo, Vice Satrap; Ali Rezaei, Secretary/Treasurer; Jon Nakao, Chaplain; Kristl Tom, Historian; Chris Trujillo, GCC Delegate; Jessi Wilts, Alternate GCC Delegate.  These Brothers were installed into office by Immediate Past Satrap, Brett Rathi.  The afternoon concluded with the closing ritual and adjournment by Satrap Derrick Egi.

Unfortunately, the weekend had to come to an end.  The closing banquet was held at Garduno's Mexican Restaurant.  What better restaurant could Gamma Rho find in the heart of chile country than one associated with the best chile producers and founders of the "Big Jim Chile."  Brothers jumped on a bus, invaded the restaurant, and enjoyed authentic homemade New Mexican cooking.  Awards were also presented at the banquet.  The Travelers Award and Lapiz Taquitos Award were presented to Delta Sigma.  The Fellow-hood and Brother-ship Award was presented to Gamma Nu.  Chris Trujillo was presented with a Letter from the Grand Regent and a Kappa Psi Recognition Pin for his outstanding job coordinating the Province meeting.  Kristl Tom was also presented a Letter from the Grand Regent and a Recognition Pin for her work as Historian.  Derrick Egi was presented with a Recognition Pin for his dedication and demonstration that brotherhood is for life.  Upon receiving the award, Derrick promised to sing at the next meeting.  He offered it as one of many incentives for Brothers to attend the fall Province meeting in San Diego.  Gamma Rho was recognized for doing an excellent job hosting the meeting.  Rich Weagley was recognized and given a standing ovation for bringing Gamma Rho "out of a slump."  Supervisor Craig Johnston thanked Province IX and expressed his joy for our growing province. He promised to keep in touch and visit Province IX often.

With the downpour of awards, recognitions, and brotherly love came a downpour from the heavens.  Despite the seemingly gloomy weather, however, Brothers continued the celebration of a successful meeting and the growth of our province. The banquet was quickly followed by a Fiesta Party hosted by Gamma Rho.  At 12:01am Pacific Time, Brothers gathered to sing "Happy Birthday" to Ali Rezaei, who was unable to attend the meeting.

This meeting was very successful.  A special thank you goes out to Supervisor Craig Johnston (it has been an honor having you as our supervisor), Gamma Rho for hosting the meeting, the 2004-2005 executive committee for an outstanding year, and all of the Province IX Brothers.  Brothers are now looking forward to reuniting in Pittsburgh for the 52nd G.C.C. in August.  We are hoping to have 100% representation in Pittsburgh.
